President of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives supports looming industrial action of nurses

The president of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Comrade nurse Abdrafiu Alani Adeniji, has thrown his weight behind the impending strike among Federal Health Institutions nurses, saying it’s long overdue.

Comrade Adeniji who spoke with Topsyoba.com  in an exclusive Telephone chat today, made it explicit that he was out of the country during the association’s 30th Annual Scientific Conference, where his colleagues bared their minds to press men on the issue of unpaid allowances by some Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors, contrary to the provision of the Civil Service Rule No. 130127.

His words: “It is true that we have long took a position that wherever such issue as mentioned arose, unit are free to serve their management ultimatum and intimate the state and national NANNM”.
Now that NANNM’s president has assented the move, I think it’s high time all these CMDs and MDs sit up and pay their nurses their allowances before the poor masses is thrown into undue suffering.
