CARDIOTHORACIC NURSE
Job Description
- Provide adequate Nursing Care for a patient on admission in the CCU.
- Assist in the Terence Ward during cardiac catherization and other heart related procedures.
- Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationship with patient, visitors, staff, management, medical staff and other health professionals.
- Promotes positive inter-departmental communication and cooperation to enable the hospital to deliver an excellent service.
Key Result Areas
- That 100% interventional cardiology patients are properly prepared and assessed before the procedures.
- Clinical error reduction to less than 1%. 100% compliance with nursing care standards amidst other KPI.
Qualification/ Experience
- RN/CARDIOTHORACIC Nurse Certificate.
- Not less than 2 years post basic experience.
- BLS/ACLS will be an added advantage.
PERIOPERATIVE /THEATRE NURSE
JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will ensure that the 3 key stages of the procedure are adequately managed, i.e. the pre-post and intra-operative phases such that the patient receives an appropriate level of care that meets quality standards of safety, accessibility, timeliness, customer centricity, effectiveness and efficiency.
Job Description
- Ensuring that all inpatient elective cases are reviewed properly and prepared before transfer to theatre.
- Ensuring that the appropriate pre operative checks have been carried out before surgery.
- Ensuring that the correct instruments are available for use.
- Minimizing the incidence of lapses, errors, preventable complications, and deaths by alerting Management when the patient is not fit for surgery.
- Ensuring that all theatre medications and equipment are accounted for on a daily basis.
- Ensuring that all complaints are documented and resolved.
Key Result Areas
- Ensuring a high standard of Care through monitoring e.g. up to 95% of High risk inpatient cases to receive safety checks before surgery (pre op checks, blood test results and checks for informed consent).
- Ensuring less than 2% losses in terms of theatre instruments and assets.
- Ensuring at least a 90% compliance level with all hand washing and infection control processes.
- Ensuring that 100% of incidents are investigated and documented within 24 hours.
- Establishing a 100% compliant recovery room procedure for major surgery cases who have had inhalational anesthethic agents or conscious sedation amidst KPI.
Qualification/ Experience
- RN/PERIOPERATIVE Nurse Certificate.
- Not less than 2 years post basic experience.
- BLS/ACLS will be an added advantage.
PERIOPERATIVE/THEATRE MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY (SAME AS ABOVE JOB)
DESCRIPTION
- Manage all theatre staff and ensure they are 100% compliant to the nursing care and hospital’s policy.
- To contribute to and champion quality accreditation programmes in the theatre.
- To lead on departmental induction of nurses new to the system amidst other functions.
Qualification/ Experience
- RN/PERIOPERATIVE Nurse Certificate.
- Not less than 10 years post basic experience.
- BLS/ACLS will be an added advantage.
DIALYSIS NURSE
Job Description
- Accurate monitoring and observation of patients, machines and other equipments pre post and post dialysis.
- Evaluating laboratory results and communicating with the nephrologist for prompt implementation of changes.
- Educate patients and relatives generally on renal diet, hygiene, medications, fluid intakes, care of access routes, exercise etc. Connection and disconnection of patients and maintain aseptic technique at all times.
Qualification/ Experience
- Registered Nurse
- Not less than 2 years dialysis experience.
- BLS/ACLS will be an added advantage.
