Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), at the weekend, unveiled plan to build a two-storey building guest house, comprising 20 rooms ensuite in Shomolu, Lagos.
This is to replace the abandoned bungalow building formerly used as secretariat at 3, Adeola Street until 2004.
Estimated to cost about N74million and to be completed in 12 months, the guest house is designed to have car park, reception, restaurant and bar on the ground floor, 10 rooms en-suite on the first floor and another 10 rooms on the second floor.
Justifying reasons for the project while speaking during the turning of the sod of the multimillion naira guest house, Chairman, NUJ, Lagos State Council, Mr. Deji Elumoye, said, “We have been pondering about what will become of the property left behind.
Eventually, Lagos journalists at one of its monthly congresses agreed that the bungalow should give way to a more befitting structure to serve a better purpose.”
