Vice President Osinbajo Talks Tough on Ending Religious Conflicts in Nigeria

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has described the various religious conflicts and killings in the country, as the mega agenda of the devil to make the preaching of the gospel of Christ an impossible mission in Nigeria.

The Vice President, who made the assertion at the official commissioning  of the Deeper Life Bible Church Ultra Modern Auditorium in Gbagada, Lagos, said he has got the president's mandate to get to the root of such crises in the country.

His words:"There are resistance to the building of churches, in fact there are specific cases/ states, where embargo has been placed on church building, and the president has mandated me that I take up such cases".

He admonished  the church to rise to her responsibility of evangelising the world, as it is the plan of the devil to ensure that this mission is defeated.

He said :"We are in the end time, and indeed the time of His return is closer than when we first believe. The immediate implication of this is that there must be urgency in the fulfilment of the great commission. As we are all enjoined to obey the injunction.

"As we endeavour to fulfil the great commission, we must accept that there are resistance and the devil is more desperate and defiant as the end draws nearer".

Recalling the incident that led to the gruesome murder of a Catholic Priest by armed killers during a burial mass in Benue State recently, he pledged the commitment of all security leaders to fish out the evil men involved in the wicked act.

"All the security leaders will continue to work relentlessly to bring to book the perpatrators of this evil act, and to bring a permanent end to all of the killings that are going on in the country, in the name of herdsmen, Boko Haram, or any other group".

The Vice President did not fail to seek for the prayers and support of the church, saying governance is a spiritual warfare.Reading from the Holy Scriptures the account of Queen Esther in Shushan, he said believers in government are referred to as Esther. And as Esther asked for prayers to be offered on her behalf, he beseeched the brethren to always pray for all Christians in government.

"This I say to the church, that the church prays for those in government, that the church upholds the hands of those in government, not by blaming them, but supporting them in the place of prayer, because governance is spiritual warfare. If anyone does not know that, I know that governance is a spiritual warfare.I ask that you pray for every one of us who is in the position of authority", he pleaded.

Declaring the 30,000 capacity ultra modern auditorium opened,  he congratulated Pastor W.F Kumuyi on the successful completion of the church, urging him to keep up with the preaching of holiness and righteousness he has been known for.

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life appreciated all members of the church for their sacrificial and generous contribution towards the building of the new church auditorium. He also urged other churches to follow the good example of Deeper Life by incorporating Corporate Social Responsiblity into their evangelisation of their communities.

The high point of the event was the unveiling of the new logo of the church, which was heralded by the super performance of the Youth Choir.
