The woman who should be in her late 70s was taken from her family home in Ogbe-Ofu, Ogwashi-Ukwu, Delta North Senatorial District, online reports quoted family sources.
Her husband, Professor Chukwuka Okonjo, the traditional ruler (Obi) of Ogwashi-Ukwu was said to be away in Abuja when the gunmen attacked.
Since the mishap took place, various consolation messages have been going to the minister of finance from twitter.
The message on the twitter handle of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai read thus:
Our
hearts and prayers are with the Okonjo family for the quick and safe
release of the kind and gentle matriarch, Prof (Mrs.) Okonjo..sad.
