Why CAN Goes Against the Sacked Lagos Chaplain- Ven. Taiwo

There has been so much brouhaha over the removal of the immediate past Presiding Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Lagos State, by the Governing Council of the Chapel, for his alleged misconduct and disrespect of constituted authorities.

Media reports indicated that the Venerable Femi Taiwo, had disrespected the First Lady of Lagos, Mrs Bolanle  Ambode during an Anointing Service, by making her waited endlessly in a queue before being anointed. Consequently, eyewitnesses said she bolted out of the church service, immediately she was anointed. Twenty hours later, the clergy’s appointment was terminated, and he was evicted from his official apartment.

Thereafter, different criticisms had been trailing the action, attributed to the Lagos State government, but no official response from neither the governor’s office nor that of his wife.
However, the latest and shocking revelation on the matter is the condemnation of the cleric, by the Christian Umbrella body, CAN, which negates the myriads of sympathies he has drawn from members of the public.

Then someone may ask, why did CAN chide him? Could it be that Lagos CAN has compromised its righteous stand for the mammon of Lagos? Is it not an abomination to sack a pastor? Why was the termination of appointment so swift?

Hmmmn…, the barrage of questions is endless, as several supporters of Pastor Taiwo are still fuming against CAN.

The Holy Writ may, however, gives a clue to CAN’s backing of the Governor’s wife. In the Epistle to the Romans 13: 7, it states: “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour”.

To CAN, it is TopsyOba’s opinion that the said Venerable might have breached this verse over and over, as some reports have noted, adding that it was the culmination of the violations of this rule that led to his lost of job.

For other men of God in corridors of power, the Scriptures in I Timothy 6: 11 aptly warns: “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.”
