Chief Frank Owelle, Chairman of Publix Pharmaceuticals; watching keenly as Pharm Ahmed Yakasai, president, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) unveils the product |
The official launch of the product, held at the Protea Hotels, Ikeja GRA, on Wednesday, 26 April, 2017, was strategically planned to commemorate the 2017 World Malaria Day, and was well graced by dignitaries in the health sector.
Chaired by the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Pharm. Ahmed Yakasai, who described the malaria medicine as a credible one coming from a credible manufacturer, he noted that Nigeria cannot have enough of such products, in order to promote healthy competition among importers and marketers of antimalarials in the country.
Yakasai, who lamented the absent of recent statistics on the menace, said as at 2015, available statistics showed reduction in malaria cases as there was a decline from two hundred and nineteen million cases to two hundred and twelve cases in 2015.
To compliment the efforts of such companies like Publix Pharma, the PSN President urged every Nigerian to play his part in having a clean environment, adding that drugs alone will not solve the problem of malaria,” if our immediate environs remain dirty and unkempt, it would be easy for diseases to break out in our surroundings”.
Affirming the authenticity of Publitem, Yakasai described it as a genuine product, as he has used it, and it has proved to be of high quality according to WHO Testing, Treating and Tracking (TTT) standard. “The Chairman/CEO, Publix Pharma, Chief Frank M. Owelle is a credible person and his product is credible”.
The Director, Publix Healthcare (UK) Ms Angela Rutaguza, in a press statement noted that Publix is set to take the battle against malaria further and collaborate with all stakeholders in the fight against the recalcitrant scourge.
“Publitem is manufactured by Astramed Healthcare (PVT) Ltd in a state of the art WHO cGMP complaint manufacturing facility based in Palghar, India under the approval and license of Publix Healthcare, the UK partner of Publix Pharmaceuticals Nigeria Limited”, she said.
Also attesting to the quality of the product, the Consultant Physician /Haematologist, with the St. Claire Specialist Clinic, Dr Chris Otigbuo, emphasised the place of integrity in drug manufacturing, stating that the genuineness of any medication lies in the integrity of the producer, “and that is where Publix Pharma comes into play”.
He continued: “Chief Owelle is a trusted and worthy business mogul, and any product he is offering come with integrity. I have no reservation on the genuineness of Publitem, as it has been said to be of high quality”.
