With
recent statistics indicating that 64 of every 100 Nigerian women diagnosed of
cervical cancer die annually of the disease, then it is imperative for every
woman age 20 and above to go for Smear Test annually.
Although,
investigations revealed that most women dislike the test globally, owing to the
pain usually experience during the examination, a radiologist, Prof. Ifeoma
Okoye, attributed this non-compliance on women’s part to the cause of premature
death of many females in Nigeria.
Citing
the result of a study by Cervical Cancer Global Crisis Card, of the 14,550
cases of cervical cancer diagnosed in women of 15 to 44 years of age annually
in Nigeria, as many as 9,659 of them die.
Driving
the issue home to individuals, granted that faith in God works, but which is
wise decision, abscond from cervical cancer screening and waste your precious life or
attend annual Smear Test and prevent the virus?
Please
lets have your views, probably your personal experience on this.
Have
a nice weekend
