Had this happened in naija, there would have been various version to the death of this creature.The most common story would have been that of ritualists. But since the incidence didnt not occur in Nigeria, the death of the 28-foot-long basking shark weighing several tons is still a mystery in Rhode Island beach.
A homeowner in the Misquamicut beach area of Westerly reported the dead shark to police on Sunday morning. And it was learnt that the shark that washed ashore dead has been attracting curious onlookers today who took photos and touched it.
Police contacted the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management which then asked Mystic Aquarium to investigate.The aquarium sent a staff member to the beach who took photos of the shark.he s
