Anchor University Fees Cheaper than Other Institutions-Vice Chancellor

Contrary to the widespread criticisms against faith-based educational institutions, of charging exorbitant fees not affordable by the members of the church, who might have contributed in one way or the other towards the funding of such schools, the Vice Chancellor of the Anchor University –a tertiary institution sponsored by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Professor Joseph Olasehinde Afolayan, has said that the recently approved University will be the among the cheapest private universities in the federation.

Afolayan, who is the pioneer VC of the institute, explained how they thoroughly surveyed, compared and contrasted fees of other universities in the country, before arriving at their own fees, adding that the immediate goal of the institution is not to make money. He said although they are targeting money, but the institution is not for charity, because a lot of investment has gone into it, thus they must make turnover.

“We went round and from the information gathered, what is charged in Anchor University is very moderate and affordable, cheaper than other institutions”, he asserted.

The VC who spoke with journalists towards the forth coming first matriculation ceremony of the institute on March 22, 2017, disclosed that they commenced academic activities on Monday, February 27, 2017 with 90 students, which he described as a good beginning.

Regarding the affiliation between Anchor University and the Deeper Life Church, as opposed to the insinuations from many quarters that students of the school will be indoctrinated by the church, Afolayan revealed that both institutions have different administrators, and will be run differently.” Our Chancellor- Pastor W.F Kumuyi is the leader of church and will remain a Visitor to the school, just as federal institutions have the President as visitor and state universities have the governors as visitors.

Afolayan, who was a former acting vice chancellor of Landmark University, urged all universities managements in Nigeria to endeavour meeting the criteria for ranking among best in the world, explaining that it’s not to enough to put facilities in place, but the know-how of such equipment is paramount.
