The Executive producer of the Mount Zion Films, Mike Bamiloye took to his Facebook page today to disparage the effects of the entertainment industry, particularly Nollywood and Hollywood on Christians, saying the world would have been darker without christian movies.
The ace christian drama minister and producer, who was eulogizing the place of christian movies over the secular ones,wondered what would have become of christian outreaches, recreational exercises, and edifying programmes, if there were no alternatives to Nollywood and Hollywood.
The Post, title: "Just imagine there are no alternatives!" which sounded very logical and spiritual to his fans, was highly welcomed as none of them objected to his judgement.But his analysis of the entertainment industry, looks lopsided as there are other secular movies that preach morality and other decent themes, aside the common polluted themes.
Critically considering the name calling in the post: "then, just imagine..if there were no
christian movies from Nigeria drama ministers like Evom, Ladtem, Mount Zion, Prodram, Christoline, Pogemtv, Overcomers, etc.", I feel its a cheap means of PR for these organisations, ' my thoughts tho'.
Again,as a stakeholder in the entertainment industry, with specialty in Christian drama, his description of Nollywood and Hollywood effects, should have been balanced than what he actually wrote: "...
Then, the entertainment world would have
got no rivals. Then, the Nollywood and the Hollywood would have been the only
ones ravaging the souls of men. Then, there would have been no sanity in the
movie world. Then, there would have been more darkness….darker than what we
have presently…."
Thus, as a Christian cum media practitioner, with due respect, my take is that Pastor Mike Bamiloye, should have presented an holistic view of the entertainment industry, than the skewed presentation.
